Album
2013 г. Various Artists - African Scream Contest: Raw & Psychedelic. 50 видео Воспроизвести все Микс African Analog Africa released the first African Scream Contest in 2008, the proof was there for all to hear, gut-busting yelps, lethally welldrilled horn sections and irresistibly insistent rhythms added up to a record that took you into its own space with the same electrifying sureness as any favourite blues or soul or funk or punk sampler you might care to mention. Ten years on, intrepid crate-digger Samy Ben Redjeb unveils a new treasuretrove of Vodoun-inspired Afrobeat heavy funk crossover greatness. Jules Bbb Fantastic work by Analog Africa, great tracks and storytelling Favorite track: A Min We Vo Nou We. Clark Travagini. African Scream Contest reveals another hidden area ofAfrican music, in this case a form of psychedelic Afrobeat popular in the Seventies in Benin and Togo: an exuberant blend of Cuban, Congolese and highlife strains, streaked with slithery psychedelic guitar fills. African Scream Contest. What a crazy but totally exhilarating little soulfully psychedelic morsel from the deep dark corners of Africa This comp is absolutely beats, acid-like breakouts, fuzz guitar and an acceptable bootleg finish African Scream Contest really features artists from Benin and Togo with the stunning Orchestre Poly-Rythmo rising to the top for me Overall. kind of a James Brown meets early Pink Floyd with some Otis Redding taped on the side for good measure. The CD package is also very well done with a nice big booklet covering the history of Soul-Psych. Album 2008 14 Songs. Various Artists. World 2008. African Scream Contest, Vol. The first African Scream Contest compilation, an electrifying set of obscure soul and funk tracks recorded in Benin and Togo during the '70s, originally appeared in 2008, and has remained one of the most popular releases on the Analog Africa label. Its sequel finally arrived a decade later, after musician Lokonon André managed to track down all the artists on cratedigger Samy Ben Redjeb's wish list and license their songs, and was well worth the wait. Africa Scream Contest what a title is the third compilation to come from Analog Africa compilation. Like the others, this disc proves that music doesn't have much truck with geopolitics. When New York slicksters thought they were at the centre of the universe - Studio 54, say these bands were taking the coolest parts of funk, soul and disco, reinventing it and, at the same time, transforming their own music and culture. A lot of the reaction to West African blues has focused on origins and a going-back-to-roots, but the groove in Benin and Togo was far deeper and far more inventive. African Scream Contest easily joins the ranks of the most essential African funk compilations, partly by covering ground no one else has walked on, but mostly just for relentlessly kicking ass for over an hour. This is some of the best funk ever recorded anywhere, and it ranges from quick blasts of hyperspeed groove like Le Super Borgou de Parakou's Congolaise Benin Ye to the ruminative Fela-style Afrobeat of Vincent Ahehehinnou and Les Volcans' spicy Afro-Cuban workout. I purchased this album without listening to it and it was a fantastic move. I recommend you do the same. Funky world music from the past. None of these artists are household names, at least not in my part of the world, but they represent, big time. Responder Ver 1 respuesta Notifícame 9 Helpful.
