I searched with little hope and discovered that this LP was available. I played on this concert in 1969 as principal trombonist. But I'm disappointed to learn that the record does not include the Tchaikovsky Romeo and Juliet, my favorite piece on that concert. Here's hoping that will turn up somewhere. It includes Stokowski's own re-writing of the ending -- a very exciting aspect of that performance.

I am delighted to see this. I played bassoon in this orchestra, and it is great to see a complete list of all the names of the orchestra members. I still have some memorabilia from that festival of youth orchestras, to which I traveled as a member of the Fort Worth Youth Orchestra, but I didn't know a vinyl recording was made.

I have just ordered this album which I did not know existed. I still have the program from the festival, and still keep up with some of those friends -- I played trombone in the Festival Orchestra, as well as the Fort Worth Youth Orchestra (which programmed original works by Texas composers), conducted by John Giordano whom I consider a mentor.

This is a rare find, and excellent. I am happy to discover this today for the first time. One of my favorite albums right now. A piece of history and just very well done.
